Famous People are Great

Yesterday I saw the "meat guy" from Strangers With Candy. He was Jerri Blank’s stepmother’s lover. Other famous people I have seen include Kristen Johnston or Johnson from Third Rock from the Sun, Harvey Keitel from various movies, John Baldisarri from the art world, Ken Fandell – also from the art world. If you are famous and left out of the list but know that I have seen you, please do not take it personally; perhaps I am just not a fan. It is important to me to see famous people or to know people who know famous people or to know people who know people who know famous people. It makes me feel close to greatness. I can regale my friends for minutes with stories like how a friend of a friend walked her dog with Kevin Bacon and his dog.

while working at the Gene Siskel Film Center (chicago) I once handed a glass of water to Tippi Hedren during her interview with Roger Ebert a few years ago. I believe it was my finest moment. she was beautiful and elegant and thanked me. lots of famous people came there while I worked there but they've not been very publicized lately so it doesn't do to mention them here.

oh, I also danced with Sandra Bullock at the wrap party for one of her upcoming films. she is a good dancer and loves KC and the Sunshine Band.

omg! you're not going to believe this, but i work with someone famous.
seriously, f-a-m-o-u-s!
i only see him at work, because when the weekend comes he's always off to the big city, hob-knobbing w/ other famous people.
it's strange to be friends w/ someone famous. there's always a lot of cameras involved. the pictures never stop!
now...if only he had more money...

I recently had lunch with the brothers from Smoot Valley High. They talked about upcoming shows and bantered back and forth -- they hardly noticed I was there. It was great!

Jon, don't forget that you know Bunkum. They are famous, having been broadcast on the radio numerous times. And who's to forget that they were even mentioned in RollingStone magazine?

As for my personal brushes with fame, I once met Kermit the Frog while out on a jog.

And

One time Ad Rock smiled at Kirstie & Me.

And

I won't even go into the time I met Emelio Estevez.

Yes, dmo -- Ad Rock not only smiled at us, he gave us that happy look like, "you girls know how to rock to the Beasties." (You know the look?). We smiled back. Nay, we practically peed our pants.

Well. The other day Brittany came into town. You know who I am talking about I'm sure, she is like totally famous. Anyway, we went down town to that Indian place. You know, the one run by the guy who published the book of his best known dishes. So we are sitting at the bar, just kind of sitting there you know because neither of us drink, and suddenly I catch the eye of this handsome gentleman passing by. So I say to Brittany, "that's strange, I think that was Mario, but he just kind of smiled and walked right by." So she says "who" and I am like, "you know, Mario. I think he is in town working on his new film Hard Luck." So she is all like "I can't believe he did not stop, I did not even see him."

Anyway, needless to say, I am sure he will be plenty embarrassed when he realizes he did not recognize us.

I guess it is kind of like that time last summer. I was in the hardware store buying fasteners of some sort and Danny was at the counter getting some keys cut. He looked at me long and hard for a second, but then he just took his keys and walked up to the cash register. I could not believe he didn't stop to chew the fat. Perhaps he did not recognize me without the beard. That must have been what it was.
